Not sure why I didn't know this (I could kick myself) but Deborah Lippman has a collection (currently at ten shades) of nail lacquers that are collaborations with celebrities, click Deborah Lipmann Celebrity Shades to see the current shades. Some of the celebrities Deborah Lipmann has collaborated with include Renee Zellweger, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, etc. The two shades I'll be getting better acquainted with today are collaborations with two iconic singers - Cher and Pat Benatar, who's creations are named after their songs.
Believe - created with Cher
Believe is described as a sizzling, shimmering gold beige but upon closer inspection, I saw hints of multi-colored micro glitter, especially pale pink. Not what I've expected when I think of the bold Cher (its more subtle than what I was expecting) but like Cher, it's a classic.
Hit Me With Your Best Shot - created with Pat Benatar
Hit Me With Your Best Shot is described as a glistening gun metal and unlike Cher's Believe, this is exactly the shade I think of when I think of Pat Benatar circa 1980 (very black leather and spiky hair). The color I wouldn't describe as gun metal though, its more of a steely ink with a subtle duo-chrome - in certain lights, I see green and purple shimmer (maybe that's why it looks inky). Either way, I love it, its absolutely fabulous and if anyone asked me who did this color remind me of (if I didn't know who created it), I would say Pat Benatar.
I would love to see Deborah Lippmann collaborate with more musical icons and not just female artists either - bring on Billy Idol (I'm thinking a very frosty white), David Bowie (definitely a duo-chrome but what duo could get difficult), Prince (of course Purple), etc. As for the next female, I am putting my bid in for Tina Turner.
